Catimor

The Catimor coffee beans are the result of a cross between Caturra and Timor. The name Catimor is taken from its two parent varieties. In general, Caturra gives high yield. In fact, farmers can grow more plants on one plot of land when planting Caturra.

Meanwhile, Timor coffee beans are the result of a cross between Arabica and Robusta, leading to plants that are resistant to rust disease, like Robusta. However, Timor beans also have the distinctive flavor of Arabica coffee. In addition, the acidity of Catimor coffee beans is very low while the bitterness is very high. When you drink it, Catimor can bring you the delights of black coffee with a fruity aftertaste.

Jamaika

Jamaica grows in the Blue Mountain region of Jamaica; north of Kingston and south of Port Maria. Jamaican Blue Mountain coffee grows at elevations between 3,000 feet to 5,500 feet. Meanwhile, Jamaican High Mountain grows between 1,500 and 3,000 feet elevation and Jamaican Supreme or Jamaican Low Mountain grows below 1,500 feet elevation.

The Jamaican Blue Mountain is a type of black coffee beans that go though wet method processing. The coffee has a silky smooth texture and a slightly sweet and clean taste. In fact, you can find a hint of chocolate in it. It also has a bright and vibrant sour taste, but is smooth and clean without bitterness. Jamaica coffee also boasts floral and herbal aromas with a nutty flavor.

Colombia

Colombian black coffee is also known as Variedad Colombia. This variety was developed by five generations of Cenicafe between 1968 and 1982. It is the result of hybridization between Caturra and Timor Hybrid. Colombian black coffee is mostly managed by small plantations.

Liberica

Liberica black coffee beans originate from Liberia in West Africa. In the 1890s, Liberica coffee plants were transported and cultivated in other countries, including the Philippines and Indonesia. Liberica coffee plants have a harder texture than Arabica. This type can adapt to hot climates, is resistant to pests and disease, and can grow in the lowlands.

Liberica produces cherries that are larger and have an irregular shape. This type also contains floral and fruity aromas, but has a full woody flavor when made into coffee.

Unfortunately, the Liberica plant is currently considered endangered due to its low level of cultivation. So, do you often have trouble finding Liberica coffee?
